welcome

From the 28 March 2026 there will be 12 stations denoted by 12 posters located in centre of Fremantle at St John's Church outlining the Stations of the Cross. At each poster, using the downloaded augmented reality app on your smart phone links to a video explanation of each artwork piece and a reflection on that station by local church leaders from Fremantle and Cockburn. Download the Artivive (Augmented Reality App) via the link below.

Holy Week recounts the so-called ‘passion narratives’ in the New Testament Gospels that relate to the suffering (passio in Latin), death (crucifixion) and burial of Jesus Christ, leading up to the celebration of Easter Sunday - the day Christians celebrate Jesus rising from the dead.

The Stations of the Cross began as a remembrance that pilgrims had when they were retracing Jesus’ finals steps in Jerusalem up to the hill where He was crucified. Wanting to share that practice and experience with people who couldn’t make the trip, local stations of reflection became in itself a tradition during Holy week.

augmented reality

You will need to download the Artivive app to view the enhanced content at each station. Augmented Reality (AR) is an interactive experience that overlays digital content onto the posters for greater explanation and reflection. The app will automatically recognise the artwork (not the QR code) when it is aligned with the camera. The AR includes audio at each station to listen to, so turn the volume up or better still pop in your ear buds! Check out the FAQ for more instructions.
