THE BEAUTY OF THE CROSS WILL SAVE THE WORLD
faq
01.
How long is the walk?
It is a little over 2km in walking distance, and should take about 90 minutes to do all 12 locations including watching the content. A little longer if you are doing the children's scavenger hunt as well.
02.
Do I have to all 12 stations in order?
Its recommend to do all stations in order - however we understand that for various reasons you may be unable to do so. Just do your best.
03.
How do I get and use the Artivive App?
To view the augmented reality content at each station you must download the Artivive App. On the home page there is links to the App stores - click on the App store of choice, download and open the App.

Once the App is open it may ask you to create an account, but you don't have to create an account to use the App. The App should open with the phones camera activated - if not select the scan button on the bottom left.

Fill your screen with the artwork, not the QR code - the QR code is to link you to the website. The App will recognise the artwork and play the video as the camera continues to point at the artwork. If you take the camera off the artwork the video will pause - so you have to keep it pointed at the artwork for the duration of the presentation (between 3-4 minutes each).

If the video stops and returns to the start: click on the artwork itself and it will link to a version that won't cause you trouble.

Please ensure your volume is up, better still - pop in your ear buds.

Please Note:
On the camera view of Artivive:
Light Globe Icon: turns the phones torch on
Red Dot: Records 10 seconds of what you see and stops the video preventing you watch the whole video unless you start again.
Artwork: Links to a version that you can fast forward and pause etc if you click the artwork on the screen.

Any more tips to help the experience?
- Make sure your phone is fully charged, it will drain your battery.
- Comfy shoes. It’s not a short walk (approx. 2km).
- Water and a hat if doing it during the day.
- Have your earbuds ready so you can listen to the reflections.
- You will get weird looks from people, and you will feel like you’re in the way sometimes. Just embrace it. If it makes people curious as to what you’re doing who knows where that might lead for them.
- Try to avoid having people walking between your phone and the art, it can take you back to the start of the video. Otherwise click on the artwork itself to fix that.
- If you doing it at night, some stations are a little dark so you can use the globe icon in the App to turn on your phone torch.
- You can stand on quite an angle and still have the picture in view. If you move your phone out of view of the artwork for a short moment the video will just pick up where you left off.
- Pray for the people and place of Fremantle as you go and watch what happens to your heart as you do.
- Watch the instruction video on our Instagram or Facebook page or use the link here.

I thought the stations of the cross had 14 stations - why only 12?
The traditional stations of the cross is a 14 station experience, however 'atthecross.live' is only inspired by the traditional event. Our event is a contemporary experience designed to achieve the same outcome as the traditional event, being an artistic explanation and expression of the gospel story - the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ, the Son of God. More info on the website.
11.
I find the artwork a little disturbing what is the idea behind this?
There are a few images that maybe considered on the edgy side, our hope is that at each station the explanation video will provide more context and help people see the story of Jesus and His work on the cross in a fresh way. The crucifixion is not light subject matter, and our desire is to evoke curiosity in people who may not yet call themselves Christian.

This from a participant
"The unique artwork of this experience, along with accompanying video reflections, helps to apprehend the message of the cross with both the head and the heart."
